ADP and Electric Just Closed the Gap Between HR and IT — And It Could Save Your Team Hours Every Week

ADP is rolling out a new integration with Electric that automatically connects HR actions to IT tasks inside ADP Workforce Now®, eliminating the manual handoffs that have long slowed down onboarding, offboarding, and device management at small and midsize businesses. The new capability, called ADP Workforce Now IT Management, means that when a new hire is entered into the system, a laptop can be ordered, application access can be granted based on role, and security policies can be applied automatically, which means no ticket, no spreadsheet, no waiting on IT. When someone changes roles or leaves the company, access and licenses update or revoke just as automatically.

The scale here is worth pausing on. ADP serves more than 1.1 million clients across 140+ countries. Embedding IT automation directly into that footprint means the fix isn’t limited to a handful of pilot customers, it’s available to a global base of businesses the moment they’re managing HR through ADP Workforce Now.

“This partnership is a major milestone for Electric,” said Ryan Denehy, CEO and Founder of Electric. “ADP’s reach means we can bring automated HR and IT workflows to a massive base of midsize businesses that have never had access to this kind of tooling before. Thousands of growing companies will be able to align their HR and IT operations without adding headcount, and that’s exactly the gap we built Electric to close.”

For HR leaders and IT managers juggling both functions (or businesses juggling IT with no dedicated team at all), onboarding that used to take hours can now happen in minutes, and offboarding no longer depends on someone remembering to manually pull access across a dozen systems.

The integration also brings in:

  • Device lifecycle management including remote lock/wipe and shipping to more than 130 countries
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) across 1,000+ applications
  • Real-time endpoint monitoring
  • AI-powered helpdesk support through Electric’s assistant, Gigawatt, for common fixes like password resets.

This is the latest move in a broader shift: HR and IT are converging, and payroll platforms are becoming the delivery point for that convergence. Electric has spent the past several years building AI-driven automation on the back of millions of IT tickets, and it’s now embedding that intelligence directly into the HR platforms businesses already run on, with ADP being the most recent. For SMBs without the budget for a full IT department, that embedded approach matters: the automation lives where HR already works, rather than requiring a separate system to manage.
